Flash #1

Volume 1 – Selected^[I]:

• #105 – [Katmos] the mind controller from 8myo. And in another tale: [Mirror Master] first cross-paths. Includes F’s origin story.
• #123 – [Barry Allen meets Jay Garrick; The Fiddler, Shade, Thinker] BA vibrates, accidentally sending himself into an alt (golden age Earth-2) dimension where he meets JG and deals with some of his foes.
• #148 (1964) – [Captain Boomerang] first meeting. Another tale: An embezzler makes clean in order to save another’s life.
• #155 (1965) – [Captain Boomerang, Pied Piper, The Top, Heat Wave, Captain Cold, Mirror Master] are all mysteriously freed from prison. It’s all a plot by [Gorilla Grodd] to take away Flash’s powers before taking over the world.
• #165 – [Reverse Flash] comes from the future to swap lives with Barry on the day of his wedding to Iris West.
• #179 (1968) – [Nok] is a fast wind/heat creature accidentally brought to Earth by anothe alien. During this adventure, Flash ends up on another Earth, not -2, but one in which he is a comic book character; he builds/uses a cosmic treadmill to return to Earth-1.
• #193 (1969) – [Captain Cold] armed with one gun that returns the target their youth, and another, created for the Flash, that (somehow impossibly) generates temperatures below absolute zero.
• #300 (1981) – [Abra Kadabra] creates an illusion of Barry in hospital, paralyzed, and told that all his memories of Flash, Iris’ murder by Reverse-Flash, are all delusions. (Btw. “every chemical known to man”).
• #324 – [Reverse Flash] returns from his exile imprisonment, attempts to kill Flash’s new wife on their wedding day. Last scene shows possibility that F killed RF.

Volume 2 – Pre-Zero Hour selections:

• #54 (1991) – Meta-Human supremacists, hostages, plane, jumping out to save woman.
• #62 (1992) – “Year One” – “Born to Run” ch1 – Wally visits his aunt and uncle, and in last scene is hit, standing in a lab, by lightening.
• #63 – ch2 – Becoming Kid Flash.
• #64 – ch3 – [Mirror Master] Last scene is Wally in hospital, told that his powers are being rejected by his body.
• #65 – ch4 –  Return home, overcomes limits in saving father. The end of this narrative of Year One remembering the past.
• #74 (1993) – “The Return of Barry Allen” saga start – Not explained very well exactly how – something to do with The Alchemist – but Barry Allen is back from the dead (since the Crisis), and joins the new Flash (aka Wally).
• #75 – A new gang is in town, the 3 speedsters deal with a train attack. In last scene Wally is afraid of a change in Barry.
• #76 – Barry tries to kill Wally.
• #77 – Max Mercury, Quicksilver and Jay fight “Flash”, whilst Wally discovers a journal at the location of “Flash’s” return to life.
• #78 – journal reveals that the new Flash is actually the Reverse Flash
• #79 – Saga end – Wally fights/defeats RF, who reveals that he was a great fan of Barry, travelled back in time, discoverd that Barry kills RF, and so snaps and becomes enemy. When he is returned to his own time, he suffers amnesia, but is left with a deep hatred destined to play itself out.
