The desired outcome after having ‘known‘ this concept is a novel perception. The seed for this perception is the concept of bioproxies, that I can define as ‘xyz’, and in the literature includes the following distinctions ‘a,b,c’.
Example: Madagascar which was settled in the mid-first millennium: The local language is Malagasy which is derived from the SE Asian Borneo language of Barito. Co-phylogenic studies provide more information. Cattle are related to SE Asian (cf. rest of Africa which has the African genotype); similarly for the local pygmy shrew; ship rats and house mice link to Arabia, likely derived from trade missions in the early second millennium; etc.
Example: Use of the house mouse model: Benefit include the fact that females (cf. males) can rarely integrate into an existing population (i.e. can only be introduced into an empty environment), and thus can compare autosomal/Y-linked markers to determine secondary incursions.
- Example: Some locations prove places where Viking ships landed without leaving human remains.
- Example: Proof for Phoenician trading partners in places where there is no other evidence.
- Future technology: Use of complete mouse SNP mapping will allow precise models of successive population integrations.
