Here some Notes are taken describing books acquired, thus possibly illustrating motivations, etc., which may serve Bibliome growth.
2013_03_01:
- A book by Cicero and by Drabble, via the Philosophy and Literature Bibliomes.
- Dense Macarbe by Stephen King, which are essays on his thoughts on Horror. This serves my previous affection for his writings and respect for his authorship, and which may refresh or update that perspective.
- Fountain of Age by Nancy Kress is a short story collection. The author has won the Hugo and Nebula, and was a selection based merely on the general desire for Scifi.
- City of Glass by Paul Auster (he being the original author) is a graphic novel adaptation, and was chosen for curiosity. Auster seems to fit the general mould of American contemporary fiction that I enjoy, but that’s incidental insofar as not much thought preceded this selection.
2013_03_15:
- King Rat because I saw it on the shelf and because of the author: China Mieville.
- White Teeth and The Plot Against America by Z. Smith and P. Roth were both planned and both from the Literature Bibliome.
- Imperium by R. Harris is something I’ve been thinking of picking up after seeing it on Amazon. I’d just finished reading Cicero, and this book is historical fiction about him. Ultimately the decision to read to completion will depend on my experience in doing so – at the very least I want to know how it is to test these waters.
